BLACKPINK has reached another major streaming milestone, becoming the first female K Pop act to have multiple songs surpass one billion streams on Spotify.
The group achieved the feat with How You Like That and Kill This Love, both of which crossed the platform’s one billion stream mark, according to publicly visible Spotify data. The milestone further cements BLACKPINK’s position as one of the most streamed and globally recognized K Pop groups in history.
The achievement comes years after both tracks were released, highlighting their long term performance rather than a short-term streaming spike. Kill This Love was released in 2019, while How You Like That arrived in 2020 as the group’s first comeback following a lengthy hiatus.
How You Like That and Kill This Love reach new milestone
How You Like That was released as a pre release single in June 2020 and later appeared on BLACKPINK’s debut studio album The Album. The track debuted at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the group’s highest-charting US single at the time.
Kill This Love, released in April 2019, served as the lead single for the EP of the same name. The song debuted at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and played a key role in expanding the group’s Western audience during a pivotal stage of their global rise.
Both songs are among BLACKPINK’s most recognizable releases and remain staples across streaming platforms years after their debut.
BLACKPINK debuted in 2016 and consists of Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa. Since their debut, the group has set multiple records across streaming platforms, touring, and social media.
They were the first K Pop girl group to headline Coachella and are currently the most subscribed music act on YouTube. Each member has also released solo music that has charted internationally.
With multiple songs now surpassing one billion streams on Spotify, BLACKPINK continues to extend its record-setting run as K Pop’s most globally streamed female act.
