The moderators of LivestreamFail have confirmed that political content is banned on the subreddit, following community feedback.

LivestreamFail is the largest subreddit focused on livestreaming and content creators, with millions of members and regular front-page visibility on Reddit.

The update was announced by the mod team on February 1 and applies to all political discussions shared through clips or posts.

In their statement, the moderators clarified that the rule change does not ban political streamers themselves. Clips featuring those creators are still allowed, provided politics are not being discussed. The team also confirmed that no streamers are currently banned under the new rules.

The moderators added that exceptions may be granted in rare cases involving major global events. These could include incidents such as political assassinations or declarations of war, though any approved exception would be limited to one political post per streamer for that topic.

For users who still want to discuss politics, the moderators pointed them toward the public LivestreamFail Discord server, where political discussion remains allowed.

LivestreamFail previously experimented with allowing political content, a move that drew ongoing debate within the community. The February 1 update confirms a return to a stricter moderation stance focused on streaming clips rather than political discourse.

Some subreddit members are skeptical that the ban will remain enforced, asking, with the most upvoted comment asking, “Are you guys actually going to stick with this ban or undo it once subreddit traffic inevitably goes down?”

“This will be overruled when the sub gets no traction for a few weeks,” another added.

The ban on politics comes amid Hasan’s seventh ban on the platform. The political streamer is often at the center of debates, with the likes of Asmongold and Adin Ross on the other side of the debate.
