A Beyblade X tournament in Michigan is offering one of the most unusual prizes the competitive scene has seen, with first place set to walk away with a Honda Civic.
The event, called The Red Line Rumble, is scheduled to take place on April 12 at Putterz in Ypsilanti, Michigan. According to the event listing and promotional materials, the tournament will feature a full competitive format with group play, Swiss rounds, and a single-elimination bracket, all for a $40 entry fee.
The tournament will open its doors at 10 AM EDT, followed by an hour of free play, with official matches beginning at 11 AM. Players will compete in six rounds of Swiss play, first to five points, before the top 16 advance to a single-elimination bracket. Organizers noted that the size of the top cut could increase if enough players enter.
Top blader wins Honda Civic
What has drawn widespread attention online, however, is the prize pool. First place will receive a Honda Civic, alongside a trophy and a Crystal Drake keychain. Second through fourth place prizes include Beyblade X parts and exclusive items, with additional King or Queen of Swiss and raffle prizes also listed.
The tournament rules emphasize skill-based play, with strict limitations on equipment. Competitors must bring three Beyblades with no duplicated parts and no metal needle components.
Judges will inspect all builds before matches begin, with automatic losses issued for violations. Matches also feature detailed scoring rules covering spin finishes, burst finishes, over finishes, and extreme finishes, along with specific reset conditions and penalties for self knockouts.
Organizers state that third and fourth place will face off in a deciding match, as both would otherwise be eliminated at the same stage of the bracket. Judges will have final authority on rulings, and players are expected to follow all instructions during matches.
The Red Line Rumble organizers state more prizes will be announced soon, though the Honda Civic may be the cream of the crop.
