Another Amazon delivery driver has been caught on camera taking a family’s cat, prompting an internal investigation by the company.

Just weeks after a similar incident in California, a second case has surfaced in England, where doorbell footage shows a delivery driver lifting a cat from outside a home and walking away with it.

The incident happened on January 19 in Elland, near Halifax. Carl Crowther said his family became alarmed after their cat, Nora, failed to return home. Nora is unwell and requires medication, making her disappearance especially concerning.

After checking their doorbell camera, the family discovered footage of an Amazon delivery driver arriving at their Park Avenue address wearing a high-visibility jacket and holding a parcel. The driver rang the doorbell and waited for several seconds while Nora could be seen nearby. He then turned around, picked up the cat, and left.

Crowther told YorkshireLive that his family was “really worried” about Nora’s safety, explaining that she usually stays close to home and is not used to unfamiliar environments.

“We were devastated when we saw the driver lingering about waiting to seize his opportunity. It was total shock and disbelief when he picked her up and shoved her into his car,” he said.

Cat returned after Amazon driver snatches it

West Yorkshire Police confirmed it received a report of a cat being stolen from a property on Park Avenue at around 2:30 PM that day. The force later confirmed the cat had been located and safely returned to its owner.

“A crime of theft has been recorded and inquiries remain ongoing,” they said.

In a joint statement, Crowther, his partner Sarah, and their two daughters said they were “delighted, and very much relieved” to have Nora back home. The family adopted her from the RSPCA in 2022 and said her friendly nature was what made her disappearance so alarming.

Crowther said he reported the incident to Amazon but criticized the company’s initial response and lack of assistance, claiming he was asked to assign a monetary value to the cat.

“How can you put a value on somebody’s pet?” he said.

Amazon has since confirmed it is investigating the incident and is in contact with police.

The case follows a similar viral incident in California, where a cat was taken by a delivery driver and has yet to be recovered. Amazon previously confirmed that the driver involved in that case, a third-party Amazon Flex partner, was fired.
