The angry Philadelphia Phillies fan who has gone viral over a home run ball being grabbed by another fan has been mocked by a professional team.
Grabbing a baseball from a game you’ve actually attended is a dream plenty of fans have. It doesn’t matter if it’s from batting practice, an in-game foul ball, a home run, or a toss up from a coach, they want that souvenir.
On September 5, as the Philadelphia Phillies took on the Miami Marlins, Drew Feltwell thought he’d made that dream come true for his son, Lincoln. The dad grabbed a home run ball that landed near them and placed it in his son’s glove, but was confronted by an angry fan who claimed that the ball was hers.
Feltwell handed the ball back over to the woman, who has since been dubbed Phillies Karen by social media, because he wanted her to “go away.”
Angry Phillies fan mocked by Savannah Bananas
Social media has continued to run wild with the interaction, but it’s now made its way into the world of the Savannah Bananas, who have mocked the interaction.
The viral baseball team took a shot at the woman during their September 7 game with one of their in-game skits. One of their outfielders tossed a ball up to fans in the stands, who quickly grabbed it and placed it in their glove, just as Drew did for Lincoln.
However, the ‘fans’ at the Bananas game were quickly confronted by The Grinch, who demanded they hand it over. The Grinch ultimately got what they wanted, leaving the ‘fans’ upset. Yet, it prompted plenty of laughs from others.
“That is freaking hilarious,” one fan commented. “She’s going to wish she never went to that game now…,” another added. “Hope getting that ball was worth it to her. Sometimes being nice is much more satisfying,” another said.
As noted, Feltwell broke his silence on the incident to explain why he handed the ball back over. He simply wanted the woman to go away and leave his family alone.
Videos from the incident continue to surface on social media, too, with other fans being shown to confront the woman in question.
