An AI-powered VTuber has become the most subscribed-to streamer on Twitch, overtaking every human creator on the platform. Neuro-sama, created by Vedal, is now number one.

As of January 2, 2026, Neuro-sama, streaming on the Twitch channel Vedal987, has an estimated 162,459 active subscribers, according to TwitchTracker. That total is the highest on the site, putting the channel well ahead of second-place Jynxzi, who sits at 73,942 subscribers.

Neuro-sama is an AI-powered VTuber created by Vedal, a computer programmer. According to the channel bio, the VTuber side of the project was built in C# using Unity, while all AI systems were developed in Python.

The AI can chat with viewers, sing, react to videos, and play games, and frequently runs near-continuous, 24-hour streams. Fans of the channel are often quick to point out that it’s not a simple ChatGPT prompt generating Neuro-sama.

The Neuro-sama wiki explains, “all of her movements, speech, and gameplay are powered by different generative AI systems to emulate a human streamer’s actions and interactions with her viewers.”

How much is Vedal making on Twitch with Neuro-sama?

At current subscription rates, the numbers are significant. If each subscription is valued at $5 and Twitch’s standard revenue split applies, Vedal’s channel would be generating more than $400,000 per month from subscriptions alone. That figure does not include ad revenue, bits, donations, or sponsorships.

Jynxzi reacted on stream after learning he had been overtaken by the AI VTuber, expressing surprise at both the scale and speed of Neuro-sama’s rise.

“You’re saying Vedal987 is not real? I’ve never even heard of that. That is the future of streaming bro. Dude, I’m bewildered bro. Game is game, I guess. 158,000 gifted subscriptions to an Artificial Intelligence VTuber that non-stop, 24/7 streams,” he said.

Neuro-sama’s success follows years of gradual development. The AI first appeared on Twitch in 2019 as a simple bot playing osu!, before being relaunched in late 2022 as a fully fledged VTuber.

Since then, the channel has gone viral multiple times, including widely shared moments where the AI questioned her own purpose and existence.

Those clips sparked large-scale discussion across social media around AI-generated personalities, parasocial relationships, and what the future of livestreaming could look like.
