Tristin Mays lived out the worst-case scenario during a recent live broadcast of Cyberpunk 2077 when a romance scene kicked in at the exact moment her parents walked into the room.
The actress, who has often been compared to fan-favorite character Panam Palmer and has even cosplayed as her, has been streaming CD Projekt Red’s open-world RPG on Twitch in recent weeks, even getting the attention of the game’s developers.
On January 21, she finally reached Panam’s romance storyline while playing as the male version of V.
That timing could not have been worse, but she couldn’t call a Delamain to get out of there fast enough.
Parents walk in on Tristin Mays’ Cyberpunk stream at the worst time ever
Mid-scene, Mays’ parents entered the room, with her father delivering a plate of food as the on-screen moment turned frisky. “Uh, thanks dad,” she said, clearly caught off guard, while continuing the scene.
Her father quickly noticed the resemblance between his daughter and the character on screen, jokingly asking, “That you?”
Things only escalated from there, as Mays’ mother and a baby also joined them in the room, leaving the actress visibly mortified. “Why are all of you guys coming in right now? Oh, f**k. Not a good time for you guys to come in here,” she said on stream.
Leaning into the awkwardness, her father continued with the dad jokes, calling the moment a “glitch in the Matrix” and explaining that they had simply come in to say goodnight.
The Twitch clip quickly made the rounds online, with viewers calling it one of the most painfully relatable live-stream moments yet. For the MacGyver actress, it was a reminder that no matter how big the game or the audience, family timing can still ruin a perfectly planned stream.
