A five-year-old boy ran away from his home in Florida just to try and get an early morning Chick-fil-A, even asking police if he was going to jail when they found him.
At some point or other, everyone has woken up with a hankering for their favorite food. Be it a breakfast meal, your favorite lunch sandwich, or a fast food order, everyone has been there.
Not everyone acts upon that desire, however. You’re not going to wake up and slam a pizza just because you’d thought about it. However, a young Floridian boy actually decided to act upon his wanting for a Chick-fil-A in Jacksonville.
As per Action News Jax, the five-year-old left his home and headed for the popular chicken franchise all by himself. He sat and ate with members of staff before the police turned up to take him home.
Police reunited with Florida boy after Chick-Fil-A incident
The young boy, whose name is William, told police that he lived “right across the street” and had walked to Chick-fil-A all by himself.
When the officers escorted him to their patrol car for a ride home, William was quite inquisitive. “Are you going to get me in jail?” the young boy asked, much to the amusement of the police.
“No, I’m not going to put you in jail,” one of the officers replied, unable to hold back his laughter.
When the officers eventually got him home, they were surprised that the five-year-old had even managed to get out, saying he had the “most secure house” of any of his neighbors.
William’s parent, Phil and Victoria, were left in “disbelief” after finding the police on their doorstep. “We didn’t realize what was going on until after we came out,” Victoria said, noting that her son knows the way to Chick-fil-A as they do walk there.
When the news station reunited the officers and the family, William left them with a gift – a bag of cookies each. He wasn’t punished for his “adventure” either, as his dad said he was “shaken up” by what had happened.
