Twitch streamer Kingsman265 shouldn’t have been removed from the $40,000 Marvel Rivals event, host BasimZB has admitted, saying it was “wrong” to do.
On January 18, the Twitch world was set alight following drama from a $40,000 Marvel Rivals creator cup that saw streamer Kingsman265 being removed. The streamer and YouTuber had told his teammates to swap from Black Widow, so that their team could have a better composition.
He was quickly shot down by his teammates, who told him to “shut the fuck up” after he said that they’d lose without the change. Kingsman was removed from the tournament following a set of practice matches. While his former team went on to finish seventh, the winning team ultimately won with the composition that Kingsman had been suggesting.
In the aftermath of the controversy, the tournament host, BasimZB, has admitted that it was the “wrong” decision to remove him.
BasimZB says it was “wrong” to kick Kingsman265 out of event
“I made a decision based off of haste and misinformation, but everybody in this team knew what was going on. The fact that nobody told me was… whatever, that doesn’t matter.,” Basim said during his January 21 stream.
“If I could go back in time, yeah, wouldn’t have kicked him because he was getting gaslit. Me and Kingsman already talked about it.
“It did happen too fast. Regardless, there’s no excuse. I made the wrong decision in haste. I deserve what comes out of this, 100%.”
During his January 22 stream, the Marvel Rivals streamer showed off his conversation with Kingsman, with the two clearing things up. Basim said they are “good,” and further admitted to making a mistake.
Being removed from the tournament has actually sparked a massive amount of growth for Kingsman. He now has over 10,000 subscribers on Twitch, and his channel has rocketed to over 110,000 followers.
The streamer, who was paying in the tournament to pay his college tuition, received an off-stream donation of $3000, which is the same amount as what he’d have gotten for winning.
